In Grace and Wisdom
His Word is Lasting
God is faithful. That is His nature. His plans do not depend at all on our reaction or attitude. He will do what He decided to do. And that’s our security and trust. Everything will happen, everything is fallible, except Jesus.
Our Redemption Draws Near
The question is not when He will come, the question is… Do I know Him? Am I His? Do I love him?
Confident at All Times
If you are arrested and brought before the authorities for my sake… Excellent! It is an opportunity to bear witness to the Gospel! The Spirit will be with you and will tell you what you should say!
The Temple Will Be Destroyed
What is the purpose for which the Lord proclaims these things? So that we may be confident that even in the midst of a seemingly confused and chaotic world, God is in control. Nothing happens outside of His will.
The Widow’s Example
How much did she give? Two coins, of little value, almost nothing in reality. The person who saw her offering would consider it insignificant. And more if he compared it with the sums offered by others.
A Serious Warning
But it was just that, appearance. That is why Jesus comes to call them bleached sepulchers. On the outside they shine with whiteness, but on the inside they are corrupted to the extreme, by greed, pride, and contempt for others.
The Question that Matters
A God who immensely loved His creations even when they turned their backs in rebellion. A God who walked among us and entered into the history of His creation, transforming everything
Whose Wife Will She Be?
The question is not about the woman; it is about themselves and their belief system. The case they raise has enough complexity to confuse this Galilean carpenter, but Jesus answers with unheard-of solidity.
To Caesar or To God?
This passage is often used to explain the relationship of believers with secular authorities. We understand, in the light of Scripture, that while we live on this earth we have authorities to obey, provided that this does not mean disobeying our God, to whom our first faithfulness is due. This lesson is very valuable.
Not Seeing the Obvious
Jesus makes it clear, in this way, that they are rejecting God with their commandments and traditions, and that they are blind guides.
Recognizing the Authority of Jesus
By what authority do you do these things? But the Lord knows that in their hearts they are not truly longing to know the truth, and he answers them with another question. Where did John’s authority come from?
The Authority of the King
When Jesus expels the merchants he is doing something similar to what he did when he entered Jerusalem. Jesus is proclaiming that He expels these thieves because this is His house, because He is the Messiah of God, who has every authority to do so.
Not Seeing the Obvious
They have cast off Jesus, ignoring that He is the center of all God’s plans, so they are blind. What a tragedy it is that those who knew the Scriptures and understood better than anyone else the implications of Jesus, do not recognize Him as the Savior, but rather harden their hearts!
The King Arrives
Jesus entry into Jerusalem is the entrance of a king, and he is truly the King of Kings. With this type of arrival, Jesus is making a clear statement about who He is
The Parable of the Ten Minas
Luke tells us that Jesus recounts this parable because many people thought the kingdom of God was going to appear from one moment to the next. Some hoped that Jesus would proclaim himself king of Israel and drive out Romans and Edomites who were ruling.
