These is three truths. The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:2. “Shepherd the flock of God among you, watching over it, not under compulsion, but voluntarily, as God wills, not because of the greed of money, but with sincere desire and not as having dominion over those who have been entrusted, but showing “be examples to the flock. And when the prince of shepherds appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.

Three biblical truths about the shepherd in this passage:

1. Truth number one: God has established in his providence ordinary men to whom he has entrusted the privilege of caring for and feeding his flock those of his children whom he has saved by his grace.

2. Truth number two: No pastor should serve with wrong motivations. Among what God demands is that pastors not serve as exercising lordship or taking advantage of the flock. God does not expect or approve of pastors who pastor solely for financial gain. That is an abomination to the Lord.

3. Truth number three. God will one day reward the shepherds. Although being a shepherd is his privilege, it is also a great responsibility, because he will not only bring reward, but judgment against those who did not act righteously.
