Who are we kidding?

Who are we kidding?

Reading: Luke 12:1-3
In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, “Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.”
We’re reading today how Jesus, after confronting the Pharisees with their religiosity and hypocrisy, warns the crowd.
“Don’t let them fool you,” says the Lord. “Don’t pollute your attitude before God; don’t be like them…”
If our faith is only words without substance, who are we deceiving?
Are we fooling other people? Maybe for a time. Are we deceiving ourselves? It is also likely, but while deep down inside we can find thousands of excuses or justifications, we know that it is all a farce.
Can we fool Dios? Never, not even for a second. We can never deceive Him. He searches our hearts to the depths. Nothing escapes His knowledge.
All the time, we live before Him. There is nothing we can hide from Him. He knows what nobody else knows about us. Our motivations, our desires, the reason that we do things.
It is for this reason that we need to be born again. It is for this reason that Jesus wants to transform our hearts. It is for this reason that the Gospel is our only hope.
MEDITATE: Are we conscious that He knows us intimately? Do we live remembering this? God cannot be mocked. He knows everything, and that is the reason that you need His grace and mercy. God bless you!
